  1. I am pleased to announce the appointment of Jagard Strong as the Assistant (Deputy) FIR Chief to the Moncton/Gander FIR. Jagard has been very instrumental in developing Computer Based Training, developing exams, development and training of numerous students, liaising and developing plans for Cross the Pond, plus numerous other activities that as a whole has been invaluable to the FIR. The Assistant FIR Chief is tasked with assisting the FIR Chief with day-to-day operations of the FIR, assisting with the ongoing development of the Letters of Agreement, continuous assistance with large events such as Cross the Pond, attending regular meetings where required plus acting in the absence of the FIR Chief. Please welcome Jagard Strong to the position of Assistant FIR Chief.
  2. Dean, it has been a pleasure to work with you!
  3. Thanks Kenny G, Still pretty broken tho! :) Wait till you control CTP!
  4. Certainly can fly radio / nav equipment. i.e. VOR to VOR. The other option would be something like Aivlasoft EFB add-on. Run on a 2nd or same PC. You can update that database with Navigraph and it will inject your route into your GPS. https://www.aivlasoft.com/
  5. Please join me in congratulating Kent Xern on completing his S2 OTS in Halifax (CYHZ) on Moncton Monday, October 5th 2020. Kent performed outstandingly with several aircraft in the circuit plus arrivals/departures. Thank You to everyone in participating.
  6. In late June / early July, Jagard Strong had announced his resignation as the Event Coordinator for the Moncton / Gander FIR. Jagard had agreed to stay on as the EC until a new coordinator could be found and trained into the position. With this, I thank Jagard for his dedication, commitment, creativity and real-world knowledge in implementing events within the FIR. Jagard is a strong asset that will be missed, however I'm sure we can still lean on him from time to time. I am pleased to announce that Jack Koskie has been picked as our new Event Coordinator. There were a number of people interested in the position, all with great attributes and communication skills. Although Jack has been appointed as the new EC, we will still be relying on some of our senior members to be the go-to person for some of our larger events. Jack has a responsibility to become creative with some graphic images for our social mediums and present these ideas to staff/membership. We have determined that social media creativity with graphic design is a strong attribute for this position. Jack is the contact person for event solicitation(s) from other participating FIRs and VAs. Jack is still a student in training and a student in school, however he will benefit from all of our experience(s) and our leadership. We will in turn, benefit from Jack's creativity and dedication. Congratulations Jack on your appointment and thank-you for your acceptance. Mark Walsh CZQM FIR Chief
  7. Thank You everyone! Look forward to working further with everyone of you. Mark Walsh
  8. Congratulations to Dustin Pasche for passing his S2 OTS exam on Monday night, July 23rd 2020. Dustin had a VERY busy OTS and was slammed with multiple traffic in the circuit, IFR traffic and some unique requests from some pilots. Well done Dustin! And thank you to all the pilots that helped Dustin!
  9. Thanks, Jagard, but our numbers don't warrant any extra controllers... :-( Moncton Mondays are still not showing up on VATCAN events; there are some OTSes and a few Northern Lites from Edmonton. Can't remember when we haven't been here for a Moncton Monday. You are welcome every Monday! And even give us a heads up for a plan for situational awareness!
