  3. POSITION VACANCY: Winnipeg FIR Webmaster If you have experience with the web, Winnipeg may be looking for someone like you! The Winnipeg FIR is currently seeking a webmaster. This job will mainly involve regular maintenance of the Winnipeg FIR website, as well as making upgrades when necessary. See further below for more details. POSITION: Winnipeg FIR Webmaster REPORTS TO: Winnipeg FIR Chief & Deputy FIR Chief RESPONSIBLE FOR: Managing the Winnipeg FIR's Web Services, as well as (but not limited to) the following: - Implementing a new back and front-end structure for the Winnipeg website - Maintaining an online presence on the network and in the Winnipeg Discord, VATCAN TeamSpeak and forum - Developing, managing and overseeing the Winnipeg Discord, website and data services - Responding quickly to website and data system needs - Developing and implementing policies and procedures for operation and maintenance of the FIR web and data systems. - Frequently checking and responding to emails in a timely matter - Selecting assistants as required - Other duties as assigned by the FIR Chief, Deputy FIR Chief or Chief Instructor MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: The successful applicant should meet the following minimum standards: - Be an active member of the network in good standing - Be a member of Winnipeg, or willing to transfer upon selection - Hold an S2 rating or higher - Must be proficient with but not limited to; PHP, HTML, MySQL, CSS, etc. - Excellent written and communication skills - Able to attend an interview SKILL ASSETS: - Possession of a high degree of commitment and motivation - Familiarity with APIs for other applications (Google, Twitter, etc.) - Leadership, managerial, or supervisory experience Applications should be submitted to the Winnipeg FIR Chief, n.power[at]vatcan.ca. Please include the following in your application: Name, email address and CID Examples of previous work (ex. GitHub) Summary of previous experience with PHP, MySQL, or other related projects Examples of any leadership, managerial, or supervisory experience (if applicable) All applications will go through an initial evaluation between the FIR Chief and Deputy FIR Chief.   5. This event is a unique opportunity to fly the GA aircraft of your choice into the wonderful farmland of Winnipeg. A wonderful flight, that allows you to enjoy the beautiful landscape without all those pesky trees and hills getting in the way of the scenery. Pilots will depart from two different US airports along the US/Canadian border – one close enough for smaller GA aircraft (110-150 kias) and another a little further away for faster GA aircraft (130-150+ kias). Members of the Virtual USA Flying Club can find more airline-specific info in the respective documents.

  14. POSITION VACANCY: Winnipeg FIR Chief Instructor The Winnipeg FIR is now accepting applications for the position of the Chief Instructor! We are looking for a professional, enthusiastic and innovative individual to work on our team. Someone who's professional, while remaining calm under pressure. Reporting to the FIR Chief and Deputy Chief, as well as VATCAN's Executive Team, mainly VATCAN3 if applicable. The position will consist of coordinating training of the FIR's students, as well as developing training programs, and coming up with creative ideas to promote the Winnipeg FIR to potential students. POSITION: Winnipeg Chief Instructor REPORTS TO: Winnipeg FIR Chief, Deputy Chief & VATCAN Executive Team (if Applicable) RESPONSIBLE FOR: Leading the Winnipeg FIR's Instructing, as well as (but not limited to) the following: - Leading the FIR's Instructors and Mentors, as well as assisting FIR students when needed. - Implementing, modifying (if required) and overseeing all training of students, as well as monitoring exams when able. - Coordinating with other FIR Staff and VATCAN's Training Director (VATCAN3). - Maintaining consistent contact with students to ensure continued activity while in training. - Working with the FIR Staff to provide support when necessary. - Additional duties as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: The successful applicant should meet the following minimum standards: - Be a member of good standing in VATCAN for more than one year at the time of application. - Demonstrated ability to make and keep commitments. - Real world credentials and training, mentoring or any work as a leader are considered an asset. - Be able to work effectively and build relationships within a volunteer organization. We are looking for a professional, enthusiastic and innovative individual to work on our team. A real team player, who represents Winnipeg FIR and shows our character to the world. Reporting to the FIR Chief and Deputy Chief, as well as VATCAN's Executive Team if applicable. The position will consist of communicating with Winnipeg's neighbouring FIRs, as well as working within the FIR, and coming up with creative ideas to promote the Winnipeg FIR. POSITION: Winnipeg Events Coordinator REPORTS TO: Winnipeg FIR Chief, Deputy Chief & VATCAN Executive Team (if Applicable) RESPONSIBLE FOR: Handling of the Winnipeg FIR's events, as well as (but not limited to) the following: - Undertaking public relations duties on behalf of the FIR by providing event news & press releases to social media and various flight simulation related entities. - Identifying and develops events to generate traffic and to promote the FIR. - Implementing and overseeing approved events. - Coordinating with neighboring FIRs & ARTCCs to arrange support for events. - Maintaining relationships with virtual airlines, coordinates support for VA hosted events operating in FIR airspace. - Working with the FIR Staff to provide support when necessary. - Additional duties as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: The successful applicant should meet the following minimum standards: - Be a member of good standing in VATCAN for more than one year at the time of application. - Demonstrated ability to make and keep commitments. - An Instructor Rating (I1, I3 or higher) is required. - Real world credentials and experience in internet, social media, and print/radio/video production processes. - Be able to work effectively and build relationships within a volunteer organization.
