  1. Are you VATCAN Staff? You don’t have to be current VATCAN staff to offer help and advice...
  2. FYI, TeamSpeak is the furthest thing from GDPR compliant while Discord is fully GDPR compliant...
  3. Dear VATCAN, Today will be my last day as Communications and Events Director (VATCAN5) with VATCAN. I have many projects and real-world obligations that I would like to be able to give my full attention and effort to. You've all made my time here as Communication and Events Director so rewarding! How could I have gotten through division event coordination without the tremendous work from FIR staff and controllers? It's been a pleasure working with each and every one of you and I hope to see you all on the scopes and in the air! Thanks again for an amazing year as Communications and Events Director with VATCAN. All the best, Aidan

  5. Important News from VATSIM VATSIM is updating our Privacy Policy in preparation for the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which comes into effect on 25th May 2018. Although these changes are spurred by European law, we take the privacy of our membership seriously and therefore these changes will apply to everyone, no matter where you're located or whether you’re an EU citizen. Here's a quick summary: We aren't asking to collect more data or use your personal data differently — instead, we're being more specific on how we use the information we collect, how long we keep that data, and the rights you have regarding it. As part of that, we're also adding information about how you can control the usage of your personal data and download the data that you've provided to us. Finally, we're providing more clarity around the legal basis we use to process your information, including providing the service to you, complying with the law, improving our services, fighting abuse on the system, and developing new features for you. We’d like you to visit policy.vatsim.net to read the headline changes to our policies – this is the quickest and easiest way to get up to speed on how things are changing. This link includes an opportunity for you to indicate whether you would like to receive occasional news from VATSIM. After these changes effect, if you haven’t opted in to this, you’ll no longer receive emails from VATSIM, except to give you important information about your account (password reminders, rating upgrades and suspensions notifications, for example) and critical operational notifications from the network. You can also review our updated Privacy Policy at https://www.vatsim.net/documents/privacy-policy. It takes effect May 25th, 2018. In coming weeks, you may be asked to login to the VATSIM SSO facility to agree to this new policy. By using VATSIM, any approved ATC or Pilot client, logging into the VATSIM.net website or logging into any VATSIM service via the VATSIM Single Sign On (SSO) facility on or after that date, you'll be agreeing to the changes.
