  1. All, The Toronto FIR is happy to announce the appointment of two new staff members. Faiz Husein, Events Coordinator, and Tristan Mann, Assistant Events Coordinator! Both of these gentleman have vast experience on the network, and will bring new and creative ideas to the group. We are all super excited to have them! Welcome and congrats gents!

  4. We are looking for professional, enthusiastic and innovative people to join our staff. A real team player, who represents the Toronto FIR, and shows our character to the world. Reporting to the FIR Chief and Deputy Chief, as well as VATCAN’s Executive Team if applicable. These positions will consist of communicating with Toronto's neighbouring FIRs, as well as working within the FIR, coming up with creative ideas to promote the Toronto FIR. POSITION: Toronto Events Coordinator and Assistant Events Coordinator REPORTS TO: Toronto FIR Chief, Deputy Chief & VATCAN Executive Team (if Applicable) RESPONSIBLE FOR: Handling of the Toronto FIR’s events, as well as (but not limited to) the following: – Undertaking public relations duties on behalf of the FIR by providing event news & press releases to social media and various flight simulation related entities. – Identifying and develops events to generate traffic and to promote the FIR. – Implementing and overseeing approved events. – Coordinating with neighboring FIRs & ARTCCs to arrange support for events. – Maintaining relationships with virtual airlines, coordinates support for VA hosted events operating in FIR airspace. – Working with the FIR Staff to provide support when necessary. – Additional duties as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: The successful applicant should meet the following minimum standards: – Be a member of good standing in VATCAN for more than one year at the time of application. – Demonstrated ability to make and keep commitments. – Expectation of availability to attend all scheduled meetings for the duration of the meeting and engage daily in email and voice communications with other VATCAN executive members. – Real world credentials and experience in internet, social media, and print/radio/video production processes. – Be able to work effectively and build relationships within a volunteer organization.   5. POSITION VACANCY: Toronto FIR Webmaster If you have experience with the web, Toronto may be looking for someone like you! The Toronto FIR is currently seeking a webmaster. This job will mainly involve regular maintenance of the Toronto FIR website, as well as making upgrades when necessary. See further below for more details. POSITION: Toronto FIR Webmaster REPORTS TO: Toronto FIR Chief & Deputy FIR Chief RESPONSIBLE FOR: Managing the Toronto FIR's Web Services, as well as (but not limited to) the following: - Implementing a new back and front-end structure for the Toronto website - Maintaining an online presence on the network and in the Toronto Discord, VATCAN TeamSpeak and forum - Developing, managing and overseeing the Toronto Discord, website and data services - Responding quickly to website and data system needs - Developing and implementing policies and procedures for operation and maintenance of the FIR web and data systems. - Frequently checking and responding to emails in a timely matter - Selecting assistants as required - Other duties as assigned by the FIR Chief, Deputy FIR Chief or Chief Instructor MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: The successful applicant should meet the following minimum standards: - Be an active member of the network in good standing - Be a member of Toronto, or willing to transfer upon selection - Hold an S2 rating or higher - Must be proficient with but not limited to; PHP, HTML, MySQL, CSS, etc. - Excellent written and communication skills - Able to attend an interview SKILL ASSETS: - Possession of a high degree of commitment and motivation - Familiarity with APIs for other applications (Google, Twitter, etc.) - Leadership, managerial, or supervisory experience Applications should be submitted to the Toronto FIR Chief, j.perry@vatcan.ca Please include the following in your application: Name, email address and CID Examples of previous work (ex.   13. Please help me welcome and congratulate our newest staff members! All 3 are going to be a great asset to the FIR and will be great fits in their roles. I want to thank them all for stepping up to the plate.
  14. Join the CZEG FIR and help Thomas Smith earn his S2 rating on CYEG TWR! It all takes place on February 14th between 2100z - 2300z (February 14th 1600 - 1800EST). Fly in and out of CYEG where all IFR and VFR traffic is welcomed and encouraged! Best of luck Thomas!
