Position Vacancy: Moncton/Gander FIR Webmaster


Do you have experience with developing and maintaining websites? The Moncton/Gander FIR is looking to someone like you!  We are currently seeking a webmaster.  This job will involve developing and maintaining the Moncton/Gander FIR website.

Reports to the Moncton/Gander CZQM/CZQX FIR Chief.

Responsible for:

  • Developing and maintaining the FIRs official website

  • Maintaining an online presence on the network, and in FIR Discord Channels, VATCAN TeamSpeak, and forum.

  • Frequently checking and responding to emails as required

  • Any other duties assigned by the FIR Chief, Deputy Chief, and/or Chief Instructor.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be an active member of the network, in good standing

  • Experience with Object Orientated Programming (ex: C#, PHP, etc)

  • Must be proficient with HTML and CSS

  • Experience working with databases (such as MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, etc)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Willing to attend an interview

Useful Skills/Experience:

  • Proficiency in PHP, HTML, CSS and/or JavaScript

  • Experience working with REST APIs

  • Experience working with OAuth (OAuth2 preferably)

  • Experience working with Git

Applications will be reviewed by the FIR Chief, and the FIR Deputy Chief in consultation with VATCAN7. Any applications which pass the initial screening will be contacted for an interview. Candidates will be notified once the position has been filled.

Note: Don't be afraid to apply! We are not specifically seeking individuals with real-world credentials, and many members in VATCAN, and other divisions on VATSIM in technical roles (such as webmasters) are hobbyists and enjoy programming on the side.
